Guest speaker this year is Ken Bailey K1FUG, assistant EMCOMM Manager for the ARRL.
Ken joined the ARRL HQ staff in January 2011 as the Emergency Preparedness Assistant Manager. Among his duties within the Field Services and Radio Sport Group, he has taken on the role of the Continuing Education Program Administrator, for the Emergency Communications courses, EC-001 and EC-016 and is currently working on updates to these courses.
Among some of his accomplishments prior to joining League staff, he was an Electronic Technician for Hewlett Packard and Digital Equipment Corporation. He has worked in law enforcement, was a Connecticut certified teacher in grades K thru 8, and an Information Technology specialist for a well-known Native American casino.
Ken has been licensed since 1963 and holds an Amateur Extra class license.
Besides public service communications Ken enjoys working DX and plays at being a contester, he has been seen at League HQ running around in the parking lot, trying to work an FM satellite. He primarily operates SSB but is not opposed to operating CW and digital modes. QRP is his passion.
Recently he was elected President of the Laird Campbell Memorial HQ Operators Club, W1HQ.
Ken is also a member of the Association of Public Safety Communication Officials, International Association of Emergency Managers, AARP, and other organizations that will have him as a member.
